Publications division of GIF aims to bring about publications to preserve our languages and culture. These publications can be purchased from the GIF office in Singapore or through various retail outlets in Singapore, UK, USA and India (Oxford Book Stores in Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta).
The latest publication is a Hindi book for Pre-schoolers, by Coonoor Kripalani.
Beautifully and colourfully illustrated, these four books have been developed with a fresh and contemporary look for presenting the Hindi alphabet, numbers, colours, and shapes to pre-schoolers, aged between 2 to 4 years. Conceived and written by Coonoor Kripalani, the illustrations are done by a young talented artist, Yasmin Mehra, a resident of Vienna and recent graduate of art school there. Each of the books has been edited and reviewed by Sapna Sunder, a Hindi teacher of many years experience, and presently the manager of the Hindi Centre in Singapore, as well as Dr. Anju Sharma, Head of the Hindi Department, Global Indian International School, Singapore. The covers, design & layout are done by Meenakshi Chandiramani, the well-known graphic designer from Hong Kong, with assistance from Prashant Patel in Singapore.
All four books are printed in neon colours, on gloss art card. The books will appeal to young children, who will delight in holding the books, flipping the pages, and carrying them about with themselves. They serve not just as learning tools, but almost as toys, that provide children hours and hours of pleasure as they repeatedly turn the pages.
These books are unique as there are no comparable Hindi books available in the market. The illustrations have all been specially commissioned for each letter of the alphabet, and for each page of each book. With attractive covers and ring-bound to make the books user-friendly and easy to flip through, the books are designed to attract children to WANT to play with the books. They will enhance the learning process of the children in a fun way.
Each book ends with a short inspirational quote on the inside of the back cover.
