The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) has been designed for 14 to 16 year olds. Cambridge programme is also available for Standard 1 to 12.
GIIS offer the Cambridge programme at some schools for Standard 1 to 10 and in some campuses, for the Standard 8 to 10. Students appear for the "O" level exams under the IGCSE which is conducted by University of Cambridge UK.
Students who obtain an IGCSE qualification from Cambridge are prepared for further academic success, including progression to A and AS Level study, and equip students will the skills needed for immediate employment. IGCSE is recognised as evidence of ability by academic institutions and employers around the world.
GIIS Students who complete IGCSE "O" levels will get into the International Baccalaureate Diploma course for Standard 11 & 12. The IGCSE and the IB have more or less identical subject combinations which make it easier for the IGCSE student to get into IB course.
IGCSE provides a broad study programme by drawing subjects from five areas: Languages, Humanities, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Creative, Technical and Vocational. Within the curriculum there is a balanced mix of practical experience and theoretical knowledge. With a choice of Core and Extended papers in most subjects, the IGCSE is suitable for students with different levels of ability.
The IGCSE is an internally based curriculum allowing teaching to be placed in a localised context, making it relevant in different regions. It is also suitable for students whose first language may not be English and this is acknowledged throughout the examination progress.
GIIS Offers IGCSE at some of its select school campuses. In some campuses such as GIIS Vietnam & New Zealand, GIIS offers Cambridge right from Standard 1 to 10.
