Fact Sheet - Key Achievements
2002
1. The Global Indian Foundation was first conceptualized in 2002 and established in early 2003 (formerly known as Indian Trust Singapore).
2. The first GIIS school commenced at Mount Sophia in Singapore in Sept 2002 (formerly known as Indian Central School)
2003
The Cultural centre established to provide Indian Fine Arts, Music, Dance and Drama education.
2004
GIIS Student (Ninaad Balachandran) represented Singapore National Tennis team.
2005
GIIS was selected by EDB as the first school under Global Schoolhouse project and allotted the vast 8 acre centrally located campus at Queenstown. (One of the GREENEST school campus in Singapore with 19 conservation trees)
2006
Regional Expansion commenced, 5 new schools launched in Asia. (Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia, Tokyo-Japan, Trichy-India, Gandhidham-India, Singapore 2nd campus @ East Coast)
2007
1. Regional expansion continued, 5 more schools launched in Asia. Auckland-New Zealand, Bangkok-Thailand, Pune-India, Kofu-Japan, Tilakwada-India,
2. GIIS Trichy student topped 2nd in entire Tamil Nadu state in 12th CBSE board exams
3. Launched the Tribal school in Tilakwada 65 kms from Baroda for 240 tribal Children, with 100% funding from Gujarat & Indian Government
4. For the first time in Asia, 1200 GIIS students from 6 countries came together at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and showcased the Asian Harmony performing before a 9000 audience.
5. GIIS student achieved 1st position in the National Science Olympiad ( India) and p yp )2nd position in National Mathematics Olympiad (India)
6. GIIS student from Grade 2 earned a place in the Singapore Book of Records as the Youngest Recording Artist, for recording her own music album
2008
1. Regional expansion, 3 new schools – 2nd campus @ Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia, Ho Chi Minh-Vietnam, 3rd campus in Singapore
2. GIIS Student – Ms Apoorva Sachdeva, tops in International Baccalaureate exams worldwide scoring 45 of 45
3. GIIS student score a 100% in SAT undergraduate exams worldwide scoring 2400 out of 2400
4. Global Centre of Education Excellence launched in Singapore
5. Leading universities such as the University of California (Berkeley), Purdue University, John Hopkins University, NUS / NTU, just to name a few, offered placements to GIIS students (2007/2008 academic year)
