  GIIS Real World Challenges

Origin of Quality Circle in GIIS:

Quality concerns and affects all institutions, and despite the numerous quality standards that have been developed for schools, education is not normally associated with the business world’s drive for quality improvement. In recognition of this the Global Indian Foundation’s board members initiated an excellence plan and in early 2008, launched the ‘Global Centre of Education Excellence” (GCEE) in Singapore. As part of the center’s initiatives, the East Coast campus of the Global Indian International School in Singapore was the pilot school chosen to introduce Total Quality Management to the school environment.

Every student and staff has a potential and with total dedication to continual improvement of our own abilities. Total Quality is essentially, a win-win approach that works to everyone’s ultimate advantage. Within a Total Quality school setting, administrators work collaboratively with their teachers and students. It is in our best interest to encourage everyone’s potential by dedicating ourselves to the continual improvement of our own abilities and those of the people with whom we work. We believe that the pillar of TQM is the total dedication towards continuous improvement, personally as well as collectively.

Objectives of Real World Challenges:
•  To recognize excellence and to provide learning experience to the students
•  To showcase effectiveness of group/team effort.
•  To highlight QC competencies in the problem solving process.
•  To provide platform through Quality circle convention to present oral and written ideas.

Blending quality with global issues encountered by students, GIIS Real World Challenges Convention provides the right stimulation to GIIS and local school students' teams to make presentations to 'real world problems' faced by them.
