 | Global Indian Foundation is the conception of the vision of late Dr. L.M. Singhvi, who throughout his life promoted the well being of the Pravasi Bharatvanshi’s (Indian Diaspora). It was his vision to create an institution, which would cater to the needs of the Indian Diaspora for education, culture, Indian values and intellectual requirements. It would also become a centre of excellence not only for the Indian Diaspora but also for other nationalities through its merit.

The Global Indian Foundation is the proud manifestation of this vision. Late Dr. L.M. Singhvi co-founded GIF exactly five years ago. Our journey since then has been very fulfilling, delivering smiles on the faces of its innumerable students, giving them an opportunity to excel in the various facets of life, such as leadership, enterprise, sports, culture, art & craft and intramurals.
Educational Initiatives
GIF started its first school in Singapore in September 2002 and since then has won wide acclaim and serves over 4000 students across its campuses in Singapore.
Set in the sylvan surroundings of Queenstown, Singapore, the 8-acre campus offers high quality Indian and International education to a cross-section of expatriates in the Island nation state of Singapore. The school, which focuses on High school and Junior college, has extensive laboratory facilities for Sciences, Mathematics, Bio-Technology, Computer Sciences and Information Practices. Nurturing students for the future is one of the key focus areas for the school, which ensures that adequate opportunity, mentoring & guidance is provided to students to excel in entrepreneurship, leadership, team work, group dynamics and academics.
In order to take this education closer to those at the East of the island, GIF started its second school at the East Coast, in January 2006. GIF built one of the finest infrastructures for students, comprising 400 meters athletic running track, 2 cricket grounds and basketball, tennis, badminton and volleyball courts.
GIF is presently developing its third campus in Singapore, which will become a centre of learning excellence for the Pre-Primary & Primary School. To meet similar needs of the Indian Diaspora in the Asia Pacific region, the foundation responded to the calls of the local community in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and established its school at Kuala Lumpur in May 2006.
The Global Indian Campus, Kuala Lumpur, has today become one of the hubs of activities for the Indian Diaspora and local Malaysians. The school’s meritorious learning experience has attracted almost 40% of Malaysian enrollments, the maximum that is permissible in Malaysia.
Japan soon beckoned and GIF started its first school in Tokyo followed by Kofu. The Japanese government is so impressed with the GIIS Education model that it has invited GIF to set up its third campus at Yokohama, with the state providing the school building & land to the Foundation. No wonder that more than 30% of the school’s enrollment comprises local Japanese students.
The man making mission of GIIS was soon noticed at New Zealand and Thailand with the local community there taking a lead and inviting GIF to set up schools in these countries. Both these schools were started this year and are exceeding the expectations of the local parents.
GIIS, New Zealand has attracted Maori students, who have found the GIIS education pattern of disciplined studies extremely interesting and enriching for their future.
The commitment of GIF for educational excellence prompted the Indian public sector giant BHEL to invite GIF to manage its prestigious R.S. Krishnan group of schools in Trichy. The 60 year old institutions are one of the finest educational institutions in Southern India. GIIS RSK has since then nurtured the top talent in Tamilnadu.
GIIS was then soon invited to co-manage schools at Pune and Gandhidham. The Foundation’s educational initiatives have also propelled the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to designate GIIS Singapore as its Nodal Centre. This is the only Centre in the Asia Pacific region and second in the world.
