The concept of "Global Indian" was implicit in my advocacy of Pravasi Bharatiya or the then generic terms of "People of Indian Origin" or Pravasi Bharatvanshis, as I described the Overseas Indians back in 1962 when I first entered the Lok Sabha as an Independent Member of Parliament. That concept has been nurtured by me ever since.

We are in the process of globalizing India, while Global Indian Foundation is in the process of Indianising the globe to an extent. Indeed Global Indian Education Foundation and Global Indian Cultural Centres represent an initiative of the Indian Diaspora by the Indian Diaspora and for the Indian Diaspora. These initiative are also meant to build bridges with all resident Indians, overseas friends of India and the Indian Diaspora.

My vision for Global Indian Foundation: “Its Heart should be Indian, its Mind Global and its Soul always striving for Excellence.” The Global Indian Education Foundation with which I am proud to be associated is the fruition and effl orescence of that vision and mission. I feel that the time of the idea of Global Indian and its conceptual aspirations and expectation for the Global Indian in India and Overseas has now come as we stand at the threshold of a turning point for the Indian diaspora in the era of globalization.

Global Indian Foundation and all its international schools and cultural centers are dedicated and consecrated to the idea of Global Indian aspiring for and contributing to excellence.

Our schools in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo as well as those in India and those to be established in India and other countries of the world will represents a quest for international understanding, goodwill, values of peace and cultural harmony in tandem with our commitment to educational excellence, and that would be the fulfi llment of a dream I have long nourished and cherished.

The Foundation is the teamwork of the Global Indian civil society and all those involved in the work of the Global Indian Foundation, including its trustees, Councilors, Consultants, Executives, Teachers and Students.

The Foundation is rooted in a global Indian perspective for the future citizen and leaders of the world and approaches its agenda professionally and with a sense of mission. Let us resolve to move ahead together in unison in this consecrated constructive endeavor.
